Leadership Coryell is designed to help develop future leadership for our county be providing intensive training in areas strategic to our county’s well-being.
The purpose of Leadership Coryell is to give interested individuals with leadership potential the opportunity to develop their knowledge, and to hone the skills of leadership through a planned learning process in the atmosphere of the county itself. Leadership Coryell will bring together persons from all areas of life for sharing, learning and participation. When they have completed the course, they will be familiar with all aspects of Coryell County and will be better prepared to lead and work together.
To develop community knowledge and leadership skills, participants will attend a series of informative, one-day sessions beginning August of each year covering community needs and concerns.
These sessions provide information on the county through lectures, dialogue between participants and community decision makers, and tours of various community facilities. Topics will cover the full gamut of county concerns: economy, public education, decision making processes, tools of leadership, social and charitable agencies, government and criminal justice, employment aging, poverty and youth concerns – to name a few.
Graduates of leadership Coryell will become a part of a new community resource, capable of joining responsibly in community leadership. They will have seen how Coryell County works, know its areas of need, and feel challenged to work together for solutions to the challenges that face Coryell County in these times of change.
Between 15 and 20 individuals will be selected for this program through an application process. Nominees and their employers must be able to commit the time required for the program. A candidate must be 21 years of age or older.
