If your company, or your client's company, is considering new facilities in Central Texas, the Chamber's Economic Development Team can help.

The Chamber's economic development team is prepared to assist any company or site selection consultant in the process of evaluating Gatesville as a business location. Our team brings together a host of assets designed to facilitate your job of finding a new business location, providing everything from research statistics, to incentives, to customized property searches, and community tours. All inquiries will be kept confidential.

Gatesville is a diverse community. Enjoying a longstanding relationship since 1889 with correctional institutions, the Texas Department of Corrections currently operates several prisons in the area. County seat and commercial center of Coryell County, Gatesville's economy is based primarily on retail, agriculture, and corrections.  The State of Texas is the city's largest employer, with approximately 2,500 employees. Industrial facilities include manufactured medical teaching aids, fiberglass products, and specialized heavy industrial trailers.  Agriculture in the area includes Small Grains, Hay, Cotton, Sorghum and Corn, and an estimated 128,000 livestock raised annually.

The Pathfinders, a White and Associates Inc., firm, conducted a regional study of the Gatesville area. This study found that Gatesville had many advantages over other communities, including: community attitude, labor availability, cost of living, housing costs, community school system, and local tax climate. If your business is looking to relocate, we may have the site you're looking for!  Here are just a few of the things that make Gatesville a prime location for your business:

  • Great location - centrally located in the Heart of Texas, with access to major cities and transportation routes.
  • Sound economy - strong financial institutions.
  • Large available workforce - part of the Temple-Killeen MSA.
  • Strong infrastructure - progressive public works department.
  • Low tax rate - only 13 communities with comparable populations have a lower tax rate.
  • Progressive tax abatement program.

In short, Gatesville’s continued economic growth is assured as city and county officials, and civic leaders set and achieve goals to assure the area of reaching its full potential.  You are invited to contact the Chamber of Commerce, 254.865.2617 for any information relative to economic development in the Gatesville area.
