The Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity, an agency of the United Way, has completed its 56th Home right here in Gatesville.

Habitat for Humanity This home, built for the Weaver family, has been made possible with funds from the United Way of the Greater Fort Hood Area, Coryell Community Church, Extraco Banks N.A., Exchange Club of Gatesville, First Baptist Church Gatesville, First United Methodist Church Gatesville, Gatesville Wal-Mart, Lion’s Club of Gatesville, Live Oak Baptist Church, National Bank, Sweet Home Baptist Church, Turnersville Baptist Church, and countless other donations from a great number of individual contributors.

In addition to monetary contributions, this home could not have been possible without the support in the way of donated services from the City of Gatesville, Morgan Drafting & Construction, Cherry Electric, Whirlpool Appliance Center, Royce Electric, and Dow Chemical Company.  Dramatically discounted materials or services were also obtained from Aspen Air, Partners in Plumbing, Lowe’s Home Improvement, and Don Hempel Construction.

This home is also an Energy Star Certified which means it uses less energy than a home built to traditional standards.

Habitat for HumanityCountless individuals and groups participated in this home by providing the hundreds of volunteer hours necessary to build it.  In fact, this home was built in just 10 volunteer days, the fastest ever built by the Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity.

The dedication ceremony will be Thursday, September 3rd at 6:30 pm, at 702 South 14th Street in Gatesville.  The public is welcome to the ceremony and is welcome to tour the home to see what a Habitat home is like.
